Over the past year, the year I spent getting sober and re-discovering who I am and what I value, I’ve been writing poetry. Poetry was my first love. I started writing poetry in elementary school because my school had this annual magazine they would “publish” every year with a poem from every student in it.
When I was a teenager, I became a published poet for the first time when my short poem “The Pearl” was accepted in The Claremont Review.
Throughout my life I have always returned to poetry. My goal now is to be a published author; I have written four novels to date and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I am hard at work with the help of my agent and hope to get traditionally published some day.
In the meantime, I created BEAUTIFUL AFTER BREAKING, which is my debut poetry collection. BEAUTIFUL AFTER BREAKING is an honest, insightful compilation split into three sections that follows the progress of someone discovering their inner truths. Raw, intimate, and at times, heartbreaking BEAUTIFUL AFTER BREAKING touches upon themes such as sobriety, self-care, mental illness, and loss.
If you enjoy reading my poems on my website or if you follow my sobriety journey on my Instagram, this collection would be perfect for you. Please consider supporting this work if you can; It would honestly mean the world to me. BEAUTIFUL AFTER BREAKING can be found here.
